Nursing Home

Within the Long Term Care or Nursing Home environment, Physical Therapists examine the individual and develop a plan using treatment techniques to promote the ability to move, reduce pain, restore function, and prevent disability. In addition, Physical Therapists work with individuals to prevent the loss of mobility before it occurs by developing fitness- and wellness-oriented programs for healthier and more active lifestyles. Physical Therapists provide education and assist residents of the long-term care facility to maximize function and quality of life.

The treatment plan of the Physical Therapist includes education and exercise recommendations suited to the individual’s needs, coordination and balance. Physical Therapy and exercise are also essential in preventing falls, which is important if a resident has impaired mobility. Physical Therapists have the skills necessary to help people and empower them to enjoy their maximum level of function and independence throughout the lifespan.
